My thoughts have turned to the events of one year ago today. I awoke early that morning and looked out the window to see newly fallen snow. I found comfort as I pondered on the many blessings in my life. As the snow continued to fall I prayed for strength, knowing we would bury our daughter in just a few hours. A memorial service was held later that morning. We gathered with family in a church meetinghouse. While Brian shared a few words, I glanced outside again and noticed the heavy snow that continued to fall. We closed the service by singing the beautiful hymn,
"I Know that My Redeemer Lives." I remember clearly that as we made our way to the cemetery the clouds opened, revealing blue sky and warm rays of sunshine.
"The Lord takes many away, in infancy, they were too pure, too lovely, to live on the earth; therefore, if rightly considered, instead of mourning we have reason to rejoice as they are delivered from evil, and we shall soon have them again..."
~The Prophet, Joseph Smith

What a sacred day that was one year ago. I remember Carrie snapping this photograph out of her car window as we drove to the cemetery. We couldn't help but feel Sarah near as we tenderly bid her good-bye for now. May you feel our love and be comforted in this this day of remembrance. We continue to marvel at the strenth and faith you possess.
I love that quote! It makes life a little easier to understand. You are your family are so amazing!
That day brought a 'Christmas card picture perfect' snowstorm followed by blue skies and almost blinding sunshine. For that moment the earth seemed as pure as your sweet Sarah. When I think of the hymn words 'There is hope smiling brightly before us.', I picture days like that day. It seemed to be a day of almost unbearable grief, wrapped in the swaddling of new snow and blessed with the brilliance of the sun and clearing skies. A piece of this mortal test that could not be carried or explained without the restored gospel and the sealing powers of the temple. Our continued love and prayers.
What a beautiful sight. I know God lives. He loves us too, more than we can comprehend.
