Happy Father's Day!

Today we honor and celebrate our very special father. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have a dad who knows how to love, listen, teach, provide, protect, comfort and play!

Maren's Seventh Birthday

What a happy day for Maren! Enjoying her little sister, Caroline, but missing Sarah, Maren chose to remember her by wearing one of Sarah's favorite barrettes. Today will bring a birthday celebration with friends and family. The last seven years with our little girl have been a pure delight!
.
Maren's favorite birthday surprise was a table and accessories for her dolls.

Maren and her birthday guests decorated flip flops and received a complementary pedicure complete with polish and decals.

Summer Reading

If you are looking for a few good books to read with your children this summer, I highly recommend The Childhood of Famous Americans series. These chapter books chronicle the childhood years of well known American men and women. They remind us of our great heritage and give us a peek into the young lives of those who helped shape our country. These biographies are entertaining and easy to read. This week Nathan and I have enjoyed reading "Benjamin Franklin." It was fun for Nathan to learn about Ben's first inventions, the swimming paddles and kite.

Memorial Bench for Sarah

This Saturday, just a few days preceding the six month mark of Sarah's passing, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a memorial bench dedicated to our little girl. Our family felt it was important to have a physical reminder of her near our home. Here Sarah loved to feed the ducks. We passed by this location each time we walked around the lake or met Nathan and Maren at the end of the school day. We hope friends and neighbors will think of Sarah and the beauty of life when they sit on this bench.
