There's a Wolf in the House...

Nathan was awarded the Wolf badge tonight at Cub Scout Pack Meeting. He also earned his first Arrow Point.

As we left Pack Meeting, Nathan found a toad and named it "Skippy." Skippy joins several other creatures in a fishbowl on our back porch.

Charlotte, Caroline, and Chloe!

Caroline enjoyed her first official play date today. She and her friends Charlotte and Chloe had a wonderful time together. It was sweet to watch the girls interact and smile at each other. Everyone needs good friends, even a seven month old!

Houston Hospice Butterfly Luncheon

Today Brian and I attended the 2009 Houston Hospice Butterfly Luncheon. The Hospice Butterfly Program provides needed medical care and assistance to terminally ill children who wish to spend their remaining days at home with family. We greatly benefited from their services and were honored to join 700 others at their annual fundraising luncheon.

The director of the Butterfly Program asked if I would participate in the program by sharing our story of Sarah. I was honored and overwhelmed by this invitation. Brian offered support by helping me write my speech. I am grateful for the opportunity I had in talking about our special Sarah, her life, and what she taught us. It was a memorable day for Brian and me.

Thoughts on Easter

As we approach Easter Sunday, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. There is comfort in knowing that through His atonement "he breaketh the bands of death, that the grave shall have no victory, and the sting of death should be swallowed up in the hopes of glory" (Alma 22:14).

This week we remember Sarah's passing four months ago. Our understanding and belief in the Savior's resurrection has given our family hope in the knowledge that we will live with Sarah again.

My Terrific Twin

I have always considered it a blessing to have a twin sister. Carrie and I surprised our family the day of our birth! Shocked, excited, and most likely overwhelmed [with joy], were our parents over the unexpected delivery of not one but two baby girls! I'm grateful to share the same birth date, looks, likes and dislikes with my identical twin. Carrie has been a support to me throughout my life. She is always so willing to share her talents with others. Thank you Carrie for "rescuing" our family blog by using your creativity and computer skills!

The Book of Mormon

I just wanted to share this inspiring video clip with you. This message is given by Elder Craig C. Christensen. Our family had the special privilege of visiting with Elder Christensen in our home last November. He shared his testimony and reminded us that the "Savior hath descended below all things" (D &C 88:6). Because of this, he knows each of our pains and sorrows. I know that through our Savior, Jesus Christ we can find lasting comfort and joy. I hope you enjoy this short clip on the Book of Mormon.
