Memorial Bench for Sarah

This Saturday, just a few days preceding the six month mark of Sarah's passing, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a memorial bench dedicated to our little girl. Our family felt it was important to have a physical reminder of her near our home. Here Sarah loved to feed the ducks. We passed by this location each time we walked around the lake or met Nathan and Maren at the end of the school day. We hope friends and neighbors will think of Sarah and the beauty of life when they sit on this bench.

We enjoyed Sarah's favorite pink sprinkled donuts

I love it. I will think of Sarah whenever I pass that bench. I'm sorry I missed the beautiful memorial event. Rebecca has been really sick for the past few days.

It's absolutely beautiful Brian and Christine. What a perfect memorial event to honor little Sarah. One day I hope my family will enjoy a visit to Houston and we will come to rest on Sarah's bench.

Beyond words! What picture do you think I loved the most? The box full of what?

Relay for Life is this weekend here. It seems sad that our list gets longer every year to donate to the luminarie bags of those that have lost they're earthly battle.
Five of the thirty bags we have donated on Friday, will have Sarah's name on them. "In remembrance
of" then Sarah's full name.
At 9:30p.m., the track lights go out and hundreds and hundreds of bags and torches light the way for the walkers. Sarah's name will also go up on a huge screen. I will take pictures. This will be our 7th Relay for Life year.
Someday, I will come and sit on that bench with beautiful thoughts of heaven, and our two angels.

This bench is such a wonderful idea for a memorial. I loved how you involved Nathan and Maren in important elements of this special event. May your moments of peaceful reflection and joyful laughter as you sit on the bench and observe nature and your neighborhood bring comfort and solace.

An absolutely beautiful place to reflect upon the memories and love you have for sweet Sarah. I am anxious to visit this sacred spot. The butterfly release and the pink sprinkled donuts were a perfect tribute to our little girl as she loved them both so much. I know she was present as her precious family and friends gathered to honor her.

What a beautiful tribute to your sweet Sarah. Everything about it says 'Life, Hope, Renewal, Peace'. My grandchildren associate coming to Grandma's with Days' chocolate sprinkled donuts so I loved that you served PINK frosted sprinkle donuts. Your family's thoughtfulness in providing and naming a park bench in Sarah's honor will bless all who come to that park. I hope it brings your family joy.
