A Pig Problem!

Our community has been invaded by wild pigs.  You may think this pig is related to the cute Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, but it is definitely not!  The past two Friday nights our flower beds have fallen victim to the pigs' ferocious appetite for grubs and other insects.  Their strong snouts and tusks dig and destroy plants and flowers while removing landscaping rocks and mulch.

They bring along their wee babes to teach them the art of destruction!

BEFORE

AFTER

The pigs chew on the root systems of plants and flowers, making it impossible to replant.

"The High Tech Pig Detector" by Graco

Brian and I place this small piece of equipment in the front yard so we can detect any future pig invasions.  We hope the "pig detector" (really our baby monitor) picks up snorting in addition to the croaking of frogs and noise of passing cars.  Will these creatures return tonight?  We're keeping our fingers crossed that their hunger will lead them to other green pastures.

Word on the street is thirty pigs have been captured in our community this year, four last weekend.  We're hoping those four were the demons that destroyed our yard.

Oh, your poor beautiful landscaping! I hope they catch all those pigs!

Oh no!! We are doing our part - Matt hunted boar last weekend and brought home a prize for us to enjoy eating :-) Apparently the breakfast sausage is the best. By the way, your home is beautiful!

I can't believe that damage! I hope your tech equipment keeps them away because I'd be a little scared to go chase them away if I heard them!

That is so sad! Dang pigs! I hope they all get caught soon so your yard will be safe. You have a beautiful home.

I am hystericaly laughing right now.....but not at the ruined flower beds....but that this it TOO unbelievable! Who would ever think about wild pigs in Houston. In all of my growing up years in Houston I never heard of such a thing. I hope you can put your yard back together again once and for all.....I think Brian and Matt are having dinner together in PA tonight. How fun for them! Good luck pig hunting or defending tonight!

That really is incredible. We get frustrated when the armadillos trudge through our mulch--but I've never had them eat anything, and certainly not that destruction. That is so sad.

Perhaps you'd like the services of a boar hunter for your front yard! Then not only would your beautiful plants be protected, but you could have pork chops for dinner!

That is nuts! I did not know that. something keeps eating all our bloomed flowers... but I thought that was deer? But out place has never looked like that. They really tore that up!! Crazy! Good luck catching them and invite me over for some bacon when you do! ;)

I'm hoping your pigs receive 'Texas Justice'! Once your 'rangers' are finished taking care of your pig problem, could they come and take care of our deer problem? So sorry about the mess.

(Did your dad bring a gun on his visit? I've offered my front porch to him as a hunting spot for deer.)

I have not visited the blogging world in months. I come back today and what do I see? PIGS and more PIGS! What the heck has happened to the Texas I once knew? It's the "Mad Home Invasion of the Texas Pig-A-Doodles! This is what I call..The Ultimate Home-Wrecker! This would make a great TV reality show.
My dear friend, I hope you catch those Herb-A-Bores!

HUGS & LOVES! T

Renee' is right, where is that wolf?

The High Tech Pig detector is something that only you guys could think of. I am laughing my head off! Good luck. Let us know if you need any help. They have managed to find their way over here too!

Oh my gosh! What mean little piggies! I almost think those baby ones are cute, but that is just too much. How do you get rid of them? Shotgun? Fence? Bait on your neighbor's lawn? :)
Ooh, that is so frustrating. Good luck catching them next time.

Demons, indeed. I am glad you have a before and after picture. Very sad for your beautiful flower beds.

I think the only thing worse than pig would be a skunk :)

Oh Christine. How frustrating. One night months ago I was out jogging and I saw three pigs as i was starting a turn around the lake. I turned right around. I've heard they are very mean, as well as destructive.

WHAT? That is crazy! They really went to town on your yard. I'm curious to see if the baby monitor works. If I used that, I'd probably just keep imagining noises at night and not be able to sleep at all.
