My mother taught me...

...how to bake.

It is quite obvious how thrilled I was with my new Easy-Bake Oven. Where was my mother's good fashion sense when she purchased my eye glasses?!

One of my favorite things to bake

Sarah's Cookies
1 cup butter
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
3 cups old fashioned oats
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1-2 cups chocolate chips (optional)

Cream butter and brown sugar.  Add eggs and vanilla.  Stir in dry ingredients adding oats, nuts and chips last.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10~12 minutes.

I baked these cookies for Sarah the day before her passing.  I fed her small bite-size pieces soaked in milk while she laid comfortably on the couch, wrapped in her pink blanket.  While mixing the ingredients together in the kitchen, I remember her quiet, weak voice asking, "Mama, you making cookies?"  These warm cookies were my last gift to her.

What a nice memory of Sarah, and so wonderful that they are now called Sarah's cookies!

What a wonderful blessing for your whole family to be able to bake and share memories through food. And I had a pair of light colored plastic framed glasses when I was that age, too-with tinted lenses!
