This is our family's favorite sugar cookie recipe. Yesterday we made these heart-shaped valentine cookies together. While Brian and I frosted and decorated them with sprinkles, Nathan and Maren enjoyed making pizzas with the extra cookie dough. They set up a small restaurant and served their delicious pizzas to customers while singing "Pizza, Pizza!"
Sugar Cookies
Sugar Cookies
1-1/2 cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.

Its only 10 a.m and my mouth is watering. I dont believe this is on my restricted calorie diet. Lol. Maybe we could do it and give them all away! What a fun thing to make pizza together, too. I miss you!
Thanks for this recipe, I have been looking for a good butter cream frosting. I always frost my sugar cookies with cream cheese frosting, but my kids prefer the butter cream. I am going to make them! I love the pictures of you in your cheer outfit and with your sister. I remember that picture so well. Too cute Christine!
You know you have a talent for cooking when your mouth waters at just looking the picture of your cookies. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I've got a craving now. :-)
I'll have to try that recipe. Its great when you see a frosting recipe and it calls for 6 CUPS of Powdered Sugar. Can't get better than that!
I have tasted those cookies and they are delicious! I have been wanting the recipe ever since, thank yoU!
Sugar Cookies are my FAVORITE! What a fun family tradition.

Yummy! I love to make cut-out sugar cookies. I am going to use your recipe to make my Valentines cookies.
Thanks for the great recipe! I made these and took them to my visiting teachees this week! (Oh, and ate about 100 to myself! ;)
